Reasons you should use a moving company for your next move

During the almost 10 years that Hubby Byren and I have been together, we have moved five times.

It’s not much compared to some friends I have, that have moved twice as much in the same period of time.

Yet we can all agree, moving is a drag! It’s stressful, it can be expensive and it sometimes needs to happen at the time you don’t have the time for it.

Some of our moves were quick; our fourth move was in the same complex, just to a different unit.

One I had a lot of time to prepare for, two months to prepare.

While I’m not expert at moving, I can say that I have my fair share of moving and packing.

We never used any moving companies each time we moved up until the last move. And boy do I wish we had!

In all honesty, during the early moves, we didn’t have many belongings (furniture wise) so we had no need for a moving company to help us; we just hired a trailer and off we went.

The very last move we decided on using a moving company to help. Hubby Byren had to work and I had the three kids with me, and even though we weren’t moving far from our old place, we still considered the easiest options available to us.

Before I started packing, I first did some research by finding as many moving companies as I could to collect quotes and compare pricing. Originally, I stayed away from the major ones as I assumed they would be the most pricy ones.

After contacting about five companies, I decided to contact Biddulphs to get a quote as well so I could compare the pricing of the smaller moving companies against a well-known one.

It turned out that Biddulphs offered the best rates for the move. I’ll be honest, I was surprised because I was expecting them to be the most expensive out of all the companies I contacted as they were the most well-know.

Not only were they the most affordable company to use but also offered the best service for the moving day.

While it’s all up to you which moving company to use, I’m here to tell you WHY you should use a moving company for your next move.

We chose Biddulphs for our last move, and I’d do it all over again!!

Saves time

A professional team that works on a time base and a structure saves time on moving day because they have the experience and knowledge how to execute the packing and unpacking process.

Saves money

You might wonder how that’s even possible but it’s true in some cases. When you receive the quote from the moving company, it’s already inclusive of all costs for the moves. There are no unexpected expenses thrown at you when you least expect it. You don’t have to worry about finding the right sized transport, helpers to load and pack the trailer/truck and in some cases, the packing equipment.

Right equipment

Moving companies have everything you need to get you packed up and moved. Extra boxes, tape, plastic, blankets, crates.

Reliability

You know that when they say they will be there at 09H00, they will be there at that time. You don’t need to worry about finding casual workers and actually losing time with the move until you find who you need.

Frees up your time

The team from the moving company always has a team manager who watches over the entire process from start to finish. All I needed to do was show him where everything needed to go once we arrived at the new house, and the rest was managed by him and his team. All I needed to worry about was keeping the kids out of their way.

Eases your mind

Knowing that I had professional movers handling our furniture and belongings, I felt at ease knowing that I could expect professional standards and reliability from the team.

Safety

You don’t have to pick up heavy things! Professional movers know exactly how to carry heavy objects to not injure themselves whereas you could, or someone else who is helping you.

Professionalism

You don’t need to worry about people slacking or taking their time, or breaking your belongings. Everyone knows what needs to be done and it gets done that exact way.

Organization

As you have a team manager, you don’t need to worry about coordinating the move. All you need to do is explain to him what needs to be done and where, and he will take care of delegating the tasks to his team.

Time goes faster

While moving can be a drag, it didn’t feel like that at all. As someone else was taking care of packing the truck, I didn’t have the need to stand around and supervise. They know exactly what to do, how to do it right and fast, and before you know it, you’re already at your new place, facing the next stage of settling in.

Free estimate

Before you decide on a moving company, a representative will pay you a visit and examine everything you have that needs to be packed up and moved. Based on that, you’ll be given a quote for the services. I was a little worried at first about this as how could an outsider possibly know how many boxes I would need to pack up all our belongings, but they seriously know what they’re doing.

When I was done packing, I had two boxes less than what the representative had estimated. Which meant that the quote we had received and accepted from the moving company was accurate and there were no extra costs.

Whether you decide to use a moving company or not, stays your personal choice. Based on our experience with our last move, I’ll say we’ll definitely make use of their services again should the need arise for us to move again.
