Bad {Habits} to the Bone

Okay, I’m not proud to admit it but I have a couple of bad habits.
Hey, don’t judge me! You have some too! Everyone has them. The question is which ones are worse than others? Aren’t they all bad? There’s a reason they are called ‘bad’ after all.

Here are my bad habits and I am totally not proud of them:

Biting my nails
I know it’s a disgusting habit and very unlady-like. I’ve had this habits from early childhood and I cannot ditch it. I tried those disgusting oils and I’ve practiced self-control but nothing works. So I decided I’ll take a different approach. I apply nail polish on my nails and I don’t touch my nails in fear of chipping the nail polish because it’s going to be a mission removing and reapplying the nail polish again. I also don’t want to waste my nail polish by biting my nails all the time.

I’m one of the worst people when it comes to leaving things for the next day. I create to-do lists and I put them in places where I will see them, but I sometimes ‘choose’ not to see them. Which completely messes up my routines later on when I need to catch up with everything that I put off. It sucks and I really struggle with this but it’s a work in progress. For now, I refer to Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind, “I’ll think about that tomorrow” or a week later.

I cannot throw things away. I’m overly sentimental for my own good which makes throwing away any birthday cards, journals and anything else I believe is worth something extremely difficult. I’ve come with a plan around this one; if it hasn’t been used in a year’s time, it has to go.

Being late
Okay I can’t blame all this on myself. Having two small kids makes it difficult to keep to time schedules when you’re busy wrestling them away from each other or trying to find some time to make myself look presentable.

Losing Focus
I tend to jump around between projects without really finishing the one or the other. Which makes for hoarding (see point three). So I’ve decided to make sure I stick to a plan of completely a project BEFORE moving onto the next one.

Not my proudest moment. I started a few years ago because everyone smoked where I worked and it just stuck with me. I’ve toned down quite a bit but not enough to completely quit.

After becoming a parent, I have definitely toned down a lot. What most people don’t understand is that when I do swear, it’s to bring in emphasis, not to sound crass.

Forgetting to shave
Yes, this one is a little embarrassing. I have left my home, wearing a dress and later on only realising that I haven’t shaved my legs. Talk about public humiliation. Luckily no one has ever said anything. I have started paying more attention to this though.

Fast food and Sugar addiction
While I want to say I hate this habit and I’m going completely ashamed of it. Chocolate, pizza and milkshakes make me happy!

Forgetting names
One the habits considered to be very rude but I really struggle to remember people’s name, especially if I’ve only ever seen them twice in my life. Faces I have no problem with. But don’t ask me to introduce people. I’ll come with names that I think match the faces best.

There you have it. My bad habits. Not my proudest moments, but hey, I’m human – just like you.

What are some of your bad habits?

    1. I forget to shave as well! Eeek! Sometimes I’m glad I don’t have a daughter because I don’t know how to teach her to be a lady with all my bad habits 🙂

  1. I also smoke but am trying to quit!! And I’m terrible at self-care. I’m trying to drink more water, care for my skin, and start doing any type of exercise at all lol
