Kompot: Russian Fruit Juice

Never heard of Kompot? You’re in for a treat then.PicsArt_01-02-06.24.22.jpg

A little definition to explain what it is: Kompot is a non-alcoholic sweet beverage, that may be served hot or cold, depending on tradition and season.  (Wikipedia)

So there were a few apples lying around in my kitchen that were soon to expire and I decided to turn them into something yummy.

This is one of the easiest recipes to make fresh juice, as well as the quickest.

Here’s the recipe I used for apple juice.
1. So basically you cut the apples into quarters. Place the fruit in a pot and fill it to the top with water.
2. Bring to a boil.
3. Add one cup of sugar. {If one cup of sugar seems a little too much for you, you can always add less. Just keep in mind, it doe change the flavor of the juice a little.}
4. You will see the apples change color to a light brown. Cook for about 30 minutes.
5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a paper towel or a cheesecloth.
6. Store in the refrigerator.

~ You can also add a few mashed pieces of apples to the kompot for more flavor.
~ If the kompot tastes too sweet for you, simply add some cold water into the mixture and stir in.
