Blog Series: New Year’s Resolutions 2016 – Zephora Bösel

  1. List your top five resolutions:IMG_6672
    For 2016, I plan on
    1) eating healthier and therefore, preparing healthier meals for my family;
    2) spending more time outdoors;
    3) getting back to reading again;
    4) bringing out my sewing machine and getting creative again;
    5) Spending more time in prayer and meditation.
  2. How do you hold yourself accountable for keeping your resolutions? 
    This is a tough one because I have always kept my resolutions to myself and therefore only ever had to answer to myself when I couldn’t or didn’t reach my goals. This time, although I have decided to share these resolutions with my husband as well as my closest friends and by doing so, I know that I can’t slack off because in fact they will be the ones who will keep encouraging me to push on with these goals.
  3. How do you define what the most important goals are?
    To me my relationship with God is most important. And I firmly believe that when my relationship with Him is good, all other relationships will prosper. So prayer and meditation and reading the Good Book is most important to me. The rest sort of follows from there.
  4. What are the consequences of not achieving your goals?
    Well, I picked up a lot of weight during my pregnancy and my daughter is now 10 months old and I still have those last 5kg to lose. I feel like eating healthy and spending more time outdoors will definitely help and if I slack off on those two, then the consequences is an unhealthy, unfit body.
  5. What are some of the obstacles in your way?
    Well, I live in Germany and going outdoors for me is a schlep due to the fact that I have to pile on clothes during winter (which is what we are heading into now), as well as get my LG ready. It takes us 45 minutes to get ready for a half hour walk in the park, and I often find myself deciding not to go because I’m too lazy. This I want to stop. The other obstacle at the moment is not having the time to read (like I used to before baby). I would really like to find the time to pick up a good book and snuggle on the couch to read.
  6. Share some light advice on the best methods/ways to keeping your resolutions that work for you.
    Like I mentioned before, I find for me personally having friends or partners to keep me encouraged to reach my goals and keep my resolutions if the best way. When I know someone else is expecting something of me, then I am more inclined to push on.
