Talk with Toddler: 26 Months

Dear Monster,

So we’ve reached over two years already. I can’t imagine that now we’re heading for the third year.
Now as much as I find the joy in watching you grow up, it also breaks my hurt a little knowing that you’re growing up so quickly & there’s no way I can slow the process down or at least see it go by in slower dosages.

So finally the winter is behind us & summer heat has rolled over us all. Warm conditions mean cool drinks, suntan lotion, swimming & ice cream. Lots of ice cream. Now that you’re bigger, there are so many more things we can do with you. I can tell you that oceans & beaches are a lot more fun if you know what to do on them.

That been said, I’m really hoping that we’ll be able to go away this December on vacation. Last year we stayed at home; we couldn’t afford to go anywhere as well as we decided to keep the festive season between the three of us. Nonetheless, we had an amazing Christmas & New Years. {But of course, you wouldn’t remember, you slept through it.}

This year I’d really like us to go away. It doesn’t have to be anywhere fancy. I’m not picky like that. I just want to be away from home, even for a week. Somewhere where I don’t need to worry about laundry, cleaning & cooking gourmet meals. Yes, to me, all of that sounds like an amazing vacation getaway. My year would be complete. Bright & beyond.

But the subject of this letter is you. Almost every day I hear someone say how much you look like your dad.

Some say that you have my eyes while others say they are Byren’s. Now there’s a new link – you have my smile. Also that you have strong traits of my personality. Of course, it’s still too early to tell, but it makes me feel happy knowing that I passed something of mine onto you. It’s not something to make a big deal of but it’s nice knowing that something of mine belongs to you.

My angel, we’re nearing the end of the year already & in a short period of time we’ll be greeting 2014 & saying hello to 2015. I can’t say that I’m not excited for a New Year. A New Year always makes me feel fresh, new & open to new possibilities.

Life is good. Embrace it.
Love you always,
Your Mama
